A Great Weekend in Taiping

Right after the Trinity concert on Friday night, we drove to Taiping in the middle of the night and arrived in Taiping past midnight. To be exact we arrived in Taiping at about 12.15 am. It's a blessing I know the roads in Taiping quite well, if not we would have taken a much longer time figuring the roads to reach our destination. We were put up in Kama Lodge near the foot hills of Maxwell Hills. I want to thank my aunty and uncle in Taiping who put us up in this comfortable and relaxing place.

The next morning once we got up I finally managed to meet all my relatives, some which I've not met for a long time from Singapore. I even referred to some of them as uncles and they reminded me that not to call them uncle as I was their cousins...so malu. At around 11am, we headed for the wedding ceremony. During the ceremony Sharon and I were given the first chance to actually "drink tea" served by my cousin and cousin in law, what an honor. We really had a great time there meeting up with relatives and also joking around and playing.

Once we have finished the ceremony at my cousin's place we headed for a tour around Taiping. We drove to a place called Matang and Kuala Sepetang. It's about 30 mins drive from Taiping town. On the way there I was frantically searching for a petrol pump to refuel my car, to my surprise there was none to be found, until we asked the locals. We followed the instructions of the locals and we were quite surprised to see the petrol pump without any brand name like the ones we see on the roads like Shell, Caltex, Esso or Petronas. There wasn't any  names to the petrol pump, all we saw were 2 pumps operated by some local Chinese man.

Next we went to some mangrove swamp which has a long bridge which ran through it which allowed us to walk into the mangrove swamp and experience the Lord's creation. This was really a geographical lesson for many of us. The roots of the mangrove trees were wonderfully shaped with all the roots hanging above ground..interesting indeed.

Next we headed to the Kuala Sepetang town, a small fishing village. We managed to get a glimpse of a fisherman's life. On the way back we stopped at a small stall right in the middle of the town and had some ice kacang and Laksa. According to the locals it's one of the best laksa around. Well in my opinion Penang Laksa is still better. Before heading back to Taiping we stopped one last time at a charcoal factory. Unfortunately I wasn't able to capture any pictures because my camera battery died at that point.

A busy weekend ahead

It's a Friday again..phew this was a fast week. And it will be a busy weekend for me. Right after work today I will have a photo shoot at the Trinity Concert & Awards ceremony. Right after that I will be heading directly to Taiping at attend my cousin's wedding and will have a busy day in Taiping on Saturday. Sunday morning will be back in time for church, will have a good rest in the afternoon and evening and at 9pm will go straight to work. Yes I will be working the graveyard shift for 12 hours straight, that sucks. But then I'm already thankful I have a job and I'm able to work normal 8x5 considering the economic situations around the world where people are losing their jobs. I'm thankful Jesus that I still have a job and I can still pay for the food on my table. Truly you're my provider. For all others enjoy your weekends and be safe.

Creativity Let Loose #1

I'm gonna start a new section called creativity let loose. It's basically a section where creative shots are taken. Now how would you define creative shots? Well that will have to be determined by you and me on whether the shots are creative or not. Well everyone interprets things differently. At the end it's how you look at it. Not what others think but what you think. I've taken this some time back. Just wanted to share with you a few nice shots.

Light Drawing Photography -First Try

This is my first try to capture a light drawing. Not a very successful first attempt, but at least I managed to get the grasp of it. Here are the results. Anyway it was really fun doing this, Sharon thinks I was a little kid while taking the pictures. She laughed and made fun of me...oh well. But we had a great time though.

Performed some changes in the color to make it more interesting. And the word that I was trying to write was Sharon's name. It's real fun to do this. Just get a better torch light or LED light, the one I was using wasn't a very good one as you can see there were like 10 LED lights but it certainly made the effect looks nicer.

Marley and Me a Movie?

image I just started reading this book and I never knew it was a Hollywood movie until I came across the trailer on E! over the weekends. Was pretty surprised and happy to see this fantastic story turned into a Hollywood movie. Although I still haven't got the time to finish reading the novel yet, I have to say it's a nice family story about the worst dog on earth and it will surely appeal to dog lovers and also for families wanting to watch family movies. Jennifer Anniston and Owen Wilson are the stars in this show.

Awesome Weekend

It's been a fun and awesome weekend. Quite a lot of activities which made me kinda tired and sleepy
this first day of work in the week. Anyway fun weekend it was. On Saturday after lunch we went to Parkroyal Hotel in Batu Feringghi for a one night stay thanks to Citibank. The room was great, air conditioner in the room was super cold, never had I experienced such cold moments in a hotel room before. Anyway it has been quite some time since I've stayed in a hotel in Batu Feringghi and it brought back some old memories when I was a kid growing up in school and on weekends my parents would bring us for a 1 night stay at a hotel in Batu Feringghi over the weekends. On Saturday night we had a Youth Concert / Evangelistic meeting  organised by Youth Wave. It was a fantastic event although I felt I was kinda old for this kind of events nowadays. Well the great thing was lots of youth responded to alter call and no matter how people felt about the event, what matters most is the youths of this generation committing their lives to Jesus. Great job to Yin Hooi and the team :) and great sermon also from the speaker Ps. Matthew.

It will be another tiring weekend this coming week with the Trinity concert on Friday night and my cousin's wedding on Saturday in Taiping and also work on Sunday night. Yes I have to work on Sunday night - the dreaded "Night Shift". Oh well what have to be done has to be done. Anyway enjoy your week. Hope it will be a great week for everyone. Believe it will be great and it will be. AMEN. All Glory to Jesus.

Farewell Michael Crichton

One of my favorite authors in the early 90s passed away on election day after fighting cancer. I didn't even knew he had cancer until it was on the front page of Yahoo.com. Among my favorite novels written by him are

1) Jurassic Park

2) Airframe

3) Congo

4) Andromeda Strain

5) Sphere

He was well known as one of the greatest science fiction writers and also a celebrity among the writers. He will be greatly missed.

Hope to read Michael Crichton's best selling novel - State of Fear in 2009.

Democrat Barack Obama wins the 2008 presidential election beating John McCain setting him up to become the first African-American to hold the title of President. This is history in the making.

Will he bring about new changes and progress to the nation? Let's just wait and find out.

The best times of the day?

Ever wondered what are the best times of the day? Well while sitting here at office I gave it some thought to it. For me while it is a working day the best times are when you are packing up and walking towards the car heading back home to pick up my wife. During that time is the time when the day is going to end and the sun is about to set as well. You experience that kinda feeling of another day has passed. Unfortunately I'm not able to leave work earlier to see the sun set, how I wish I could see it everyday. Other times of the day which is great is after a shower after getting back from work, the refreshing feeling kinda makes it feel great...plus you're not thinking about work anymore just resting and doing the things you like to do. On weekends it's another story all together. Friday evening is probably one of the best times of the week as it's the time when you get to enjoy the weekend..I personally call it the Merdeka Friday. Hey no wonder they call it "TGIF". Saturday mornings are best when you're planning what to do the rest of the whole day. Well not forgetting Sunday morning as well waking up to head to church to worship and fellowship with God and friends. It may sound kinda routine but this are the best times we look forward throughout a week and we will have to go through it routinely for many days, months and years to come. So which is your best time of the day?

Hamilton is the 2008 F1 World Champion

Every single lap of the final race of the F1 2008 World Championship was worth watching. Lots of dramas and action right from the start till the very last lap of the race. Massa who won the race assumed he could take the crown with Hamilton in 6th position, there were cheers in the Ferrari paddocks but but BUT an unfortunate thing happened when Timo Glock's car stopped a few meters before the race line finish and that pulled Hamilton back up one position to take 5th placing enabling him to beat Massa for the overall championship lead by only 1 point. Who would have imagined Timo would be the decider of the world champion for 2008.  What a way to end the last race of the 2008 F1 Championship. So it's the end for F1 2008. A next chapter of F1 begins 2009. That's quite a long way to go and I will be bored since that's the only sporting event I watch.
