Hong Kong Trip Number 2

This is my 2nd trip to HK. It was really fun this time, it was sort of like a honeymoon but wouldn't exactly say it is a honeymoon but then again it was a really fun and itchy trip. Why was it an itchy trip ? On the night we were suppose to leave somehow I got some allergy on my body which cause itchiness all over my body, worst is it started to develop those mosquito bites type of things all over my body. It was only on the 3rd day of our trip that I went to the pharmacist to get some medicine to stop the itch, but it was only a temporary fix. Sad to say I still have the itch on me right now, but it's much better compared to last week. Went to see the specialist doctor and spent almost RM400 to get my blood tested. But I know I will be fine. Sharon has been worried sick for me. But I know Jesus will heal me. Hallelujah. Anyway back to the trip we basically went to many of the same places we went the 1st time. But this time we really tried more of the local food and also went sightseeing more this time around plus we had some local adventures with the locals.  You can head over to sharonlee0724.blogspot.com to see the pictures of the local HK food. When we were about to set our feet on HK soil the captain of the ferry made an announcement saying that there is heavy traffic in HK waters, I thought this wasn't normal as the first time I was there there weren't any traffic around the harbor, but once we got closer we started to actually see lots of boats and vessels all over the HK harbor and they were on STRIKE due to petrol and diesel price increase. Too bad we didn't have any pictures of that. Wow we were right in the middle of a "STRIKE". But it was a peaceful protest which was a good thing. Anyway it's getting boring writing this so let the pictures roll.

Pictures from our Hotel Room. We stayed at YMCA International House. It's a nice and affordable place comparing to HK standards.

The infamous HK skyline, but due to cloudy weather the pictures captured weren't that great. You can also see fishermen in their fishing boats in HK waters despite being in this jungle city.

Pictures on board the Star Ferry. It was raining heavily when we boarded the ferry heading towards HK island. But we certainly enjoyed the ferry ride despite the rain.

As usual my wife loves to take pictures with her Canon 860IS.

Look at the Louis Vutton store just a few meters away from us.

Sharon just had to take a picture with the LV logo.

The famous Tram

Air Quality Station..cool

Look at this not at the women, it's air quality monitoring station.

That's cool, when can Malaysia have one?

Inside Hong Kong Shopping Centers

Shopping in HK....one word to describe it...expensive. But honestly some stuff are pretty cheap. If you're considering branded goods, it will certainly cost you a bomb. But one thing I found out is that electronic products and computer related stuff are relatively cheap. I bought a SD / USB 1GB card for only RM20 plus. That's really cheap. Also i got myself an eneloop battery pack which costs me RM104 which is also considerably cheap comparing to Malaysian prices.

Stuff that I bought

Hong King Disneyland Again

Well this this round we basically visited Disneyland for the opening of the Small World park. It was nice. The rest of the rides we have actually visited before it sort of became boring for us to visit other rides and parks. But we most certainly enjoyed coming back to Disneyland and remembering the days when Sharon and I first came here during winter when the weather was way cooler compared to now and it was Sharon's first time to Disneyland.

Next to the Peak

We really enjoyed the peak this time with our elderly friends. We got up the peak just before sunset and we managed to see the the city skylines lid up. It was really fun and the weather was nice and windy the time we went up there. IMG_6606 (Medium)

The unique shape building at the Peak.

Marching in Hong Kong..? July 1st

There were thousands of people marching on the streets of Hong Kong on our 4th day at HK. Apparently there was a big march in the streets of HK. Almost 47,000 people participated in Hong Kong's July 1 march for democracy and freedom. At that time we were in a shopping mall and we suddenly saw thousands of people suddenly walking past the mall entrance. Just imagine if they walked into the mall. *Yikes*

More info about the July 1st March

The Hong Kong July 1 march (Chinese: 七一遊行) is an annual protest rally led by the Civil Human Rights Front since the 1997 handover on the HKSAR establishment day. However, it was only in 2003 when it drew large public attention by opposing the legislation of the Basic law Article 23. The 2003 protest, with 500,000 marchers, was the largest protest ever seen in Hong Kong since the 1997 handover.[1] Prior to this, only the May 21, 1989 pro-democracy protest drew more people with 1.5 million marchers in Hong Kong sympathizing with the participants of the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989.[2] The introduction of Article 23 legislation was temporarily shelved because of the protest. Since then, the July 1 marches have been held every year as a channel to demand for democracy, universal suffrage, rights of minorities, protection offreedom of speech and a variety of other political concerns.

Thanks to Wikipedia again for the info.

Hong Kong Street Walk

What we enjoyed is walking along the streets of HK with the different stalls like the "Pasar Malam" in Malaysia. However the so called stalls set up along the roads are certainly very interesting to experience the feel of HK.

In Malaysia we only get a Kancil..so sad?

We only get this when training to drive.....

This was some computer which allowed tourists to do quite a lot of things.

Apparently it was out of commission. Too bad for us.
